The Cheap Textbook Improves its Search Capabilities

Visitors more easily find what they want

SEATTLE, April 24, 2013 - The Cheap Textbook announced today that it has recently updated its search capabilities. The improvements were developed following analysis of over 1,500 search queries where visitors failed to find a result.

“Customers often mistype or copy and paste erroneous titles and data. They consequently receive no meaningful results. We were able to come up with a variety of enhancements that 'understand' what they are looking for. Some of these improvements to our search engine were simple, others more elaborate.” said Ofer Matan, owner of The Cheap Textbook.

The improvements announced today include better spell checking, query correction and enhanced recognition of ISBN requests. The new capabilities are estimated to cut in half the number of erroneous queries on the website that return no results.

“The end goal is to help students reach the information they are seeking with minimal effort.” said Matan.
